Rick Cassidy, President of TSMC North America to Keynote Outlook Conference

Semico says event will deliver the insight of tomorrow for the business plans of today.

Phoenix, Arizona August 16, 2005 - Semico Research Corp. has announced their keynote speaker for its annual outlook conference scheduled for Thursday, September 15, 2005, at the Wyndham Hotel in San Jose, CA. Mr. Rick Cassidy, President of TSMC North America will deliver the keynote.

Jim Feldhan, President of Semico, stated, "Rick has been a major contributor to the advancements in the semiconductor industry in both business and operational realms. We are excited to feature him as part of the program."

Semico expects growth through 2008. Accordingly, the 2005 Semico Outlook Conference will present Semico's outlook for total worldwide semiconductor sales focusing on opportunities. "In the portability and connectivity wave digital content is no longer constrained to the office or even our home. It is in our cars, our pockets and everywhere we go! This movement is generating a growing need for new solutions to meet semiconductor demand. "This also affects manufacturing technologies and shifting wafer demand," said Mr. Feldhan.

Known as the most accurate leader of forecasting market inflection points, Semico experts will provide the audience with a power-packed day informing members with insight as to what is in store for 2006 and beyond, plus a full forecast report. The semiconductor technology roadmap is changing dramatically and Semico wants their attendees, and fellow colleagues, to be as prepared as possible.

The digital environment will soon encompass the ability to incorporate the triple play factor. Transparent interoperability for digital devices to seamlessly connect all of your audio, video and data needs will be evident. However, before we reach this electronics utopia there are many questions to answer, challenges to address, standards to raise and new requirements to face. Such as; what wireless standards will dominate? If there is a media hub, will it be PC centric or based on some other platform? What impact will the media hub have on semiconductor demand? Is there a threat to PC MPUs? What will be the effect on ASICs? How will semiconductor manufacturing be affected? These topics, and more, will be covered by an Outlook Conference Connectivity Panel.

Not only will this new world be connected, but it will portable. Very soon, consumers will be able to carry in a pocket the equivalent of an entire entertainment center, a computer and a telephone. Will that device be an MP3 player, a Portable Media Player, a handheld game console or a cell phone? Market and technical trends for all of these devices will be discussed and forecasts will be provided by Semico end-use market analysts on the Outlook Conference Portability Panel. In addition, the impact on semiconductor memory will be discussed by other experts.

For many years the semiconductor memory market has been driven by PC requirements, but that is changing. Cell phones use a mixture of NOR Flash, SRAM, PSRAM, NAND Flash and DRAM memory, and the volume is huge. Video buffering is demanding new kinds of semiconductor memory. Data storage requirements in portable applications are driving the NAND Flash market. The resulting impact on volatile and non-volatile semiconductor memory will be discussed and forecasts will be provided.

This is your opportunity to gain the insight of tomorrow for the business plans of today.

Semico's Outlook sponsors include ARC International, Altera and Spansion.
