MAP Model Says: 51 Million NAND Wafers by 2016

Phoenix, Arizona September 19, 2012 - Semico's Market Analysis and Planning (MAP) Model accounts for ~85% of the semiconductor market, and is one of our most popular services that contributes to Semico's overall forecast. Our analysts update the Model throughout the year, providing historical data from 2000 and forecasts into 2016.

One of the benefits of the MAP Model is how it syncs up with Joanne Itow's Wafer Demand Database and shows the progression of wafers via technology nodes. If we take a look at our standard forecast pull (2007 - 2016) we see that NAND wafer technology advances from 130nm to 10nm, according to Mb size. The MAP Model tracks NAND sizes between 120Mb (out of production after 2007) to 256Gb (distribution begins in 2014).

1. You can track the migration of technology nodes for wafer demand. For example, our MAP Model is showing total NAND wafer demand in 2011 peaked at the 32Gb chip processed at 45nm.
