Tony Massimini

Tony Massimini is Chief of Technology at Semico Research Corporation.  Tony has been analyzing the market for microprocessors (MPUs) and microcontrollers (MCUs) in both the computing and embedded control markets.  He is also an expert for Micro-Electrical Mechanical Systems (MEMS). Tony analyzes the MEMS market covering such topics as Sensor Fusion, smart phones, medical applications, oscillators, energy harvesting, electronic standards and the Internet of Things.  Tony is instrumental in coordinating the development of Semico’s Bill of Materials for Semico’s online MAP Model analysis tool.

Tony Massimini is a highly regarded expert in his areas of study.  He has provided executive level consulting to Semico clients.  As chief of Technology, Tony delivers competitive analysis and consulting to clients to aid in their product development, technical and strategic marketing plans, and for due diligence in mergers and acquisitions.  Tony provides consulting to the investment and financial community.  He is an accomplished speaker who has presented at various industry events and conferences held by organizations such as MEMS Industry Group (MIG), SEMI, MEPTEC and others.

His electronics experience is with industry leaders: Eastman Kodak, Motorola Semiconductor, STMicroelectronics and VLSI Technology.  Tony has been an applications engineer for PC chipsets, smart power devices and other semiconductors focused on the computer industry. He was also the Senior Market Analyst for Micro Logic at In-Stat.  Tony has been with Semico Research since 1995.  He has been in the electronics industry since 1980, and in the semiconductor business since 1984. He is a member of IEEE.  Tony holds a BSEE degree from Northwestern University.

C. Prasanna Venkatesan

Prasanna has over 15 years of experience in Market Development and Strategic Planning in the Manufacturing and Energy space.  He spent several years at Cummins Engine Company where he was the resident expert on in-vehicle communications and self-diagnostic and emissions control algorithms.  After Cummins, he was a consultant at A.T. Kearney in Chicago, advising clients across the globe primarily in the Telecom and Energy sectors. 

For the past 6 years at Cisco, Prasanna has spent the majority of his time in the Smart Grid Business Unit and at the Internet of Things group where he led the Strategic Planning and Market Development function for the BU.  More recently, he has expanded his role to include Mining and Process Industries.  His team’s charter includes the development of Vertical focused solutions, services and products to address specific use cases of primary business importance to Industrial and Energy customers. 

Prasanna holds a Bachelor of Engineering Degree from the Birla Institute of Technology and Science, India, a Masters in Engineering from Purdue, and an MBA from the University of Chicago.  He currently lives in San Jose with his wife and two children. 

 

Carolyn Weiner, Manager, Core Products, PG&E

Carolyn Weiner is the Manager in the Energy Efficiency Products organization at Pacific Gas & Electric Company. She oversees PG&E’s portfolio of energy efficiency products and services targeting core building infrastructure including lighting, HVAC, Appliances, Refrigeration, and more. 

Prior to taking the Manager role she led the energy efficient lighting product portfolio for both commercial and residential markets including managing a program budget of over $30 million. Prior to joining PG&E, Carolyn completed her Masters in Business Administration from University of California Davis. While at UC Davis, she was an Emerging Venture Analyst Fellow for the UC Davis Energy Efficiency Center supporting utilities’ emerging technology programs. Before transitioning to energy efficiency, Carolyn spent several years in marketing consulting for large national brands.

 

Konstantinos Papamichael, UC Davis, CA Lighting Technology Center

Konstantinos (Kosta) Papamichael is a Professor in the Department of Design and the Co-Director of the California Lighting Technology Center at the University of California, Davis.  He holds an Architectural Engineering degree from the Aristotelian University of Thessaloniki, Greece, a Masters in Architecture from Iowa State University, and a Ph.D. in Architecture from the University of California at Berkeley.  Kosta has been working on the development of energy efficiency strategies and technologies for buildings for over 30 years, focusing on strategies, technologies and design tools for fenestration systems, daylighting, and the integration of electric lighting and fenestration controls.  He holds five patents and is author/co-author of more than 100 publications.  He is also the author of the Daylight Chapter of the Advanced Lighting Guidelines, the Chair of the IES Daylighting Committee, and the recipient of the 2013 IES Presidential Award for leading the development of the new version of the IES Recommended Practice for Daylighting Buildings.

Derry Berrigan, Chief Innovation Officer, Light Think Studios

Derry Berrigan is chief innovation officer at Light Think Studios, Inc and chair of Light Think University (LTU). Derry, an internationally recognized architectural LED lighting designer works in spaces such as restaurants, retail, office buildings and universities. Derry delivers lighting design innovations enriching the experiences of life, shrinking the world’s energy obesity and respecting our stewardship responsibilities. Derry has led strategic client relationships with Fortune 500 companies including McDonald’s, Walmart, Bank of America, and YUM! Brands.  Her work with LTU brings student teams together with industry leaders to create room environments using lighting anthropology, leading-edge solid-state lighting and controls technologies. 

Danny Yu, CEO, Daintree

Danny brings over 20 years of leadership and growth company experience in lighting, enterprise solutions, communications, and semiconductors to his role as CEO. Immediately prior to Daintree, Danny was Vice President of Segment and Strategic Marketing at Philips Lumileds where he led global marketing, business development, and product definition for solid state (LED) lighting segments. He originally joined Lumileds prior to its acquisition by Philips as Vice President of Global Major Account Sales and Business Development. During his tenure at Lumileds, Danny led multiple lighting businesses from their start-up phase to achieving $70–$100M+ in revenues and market-leading positions.

Jason Posselt, Senior Director of Product Management, Intematix

Jason Posselt has 18 years of product development and marketing experience in the high power solid state lighting industry. Jason joined Intematix in 2013 as Senior Director of Product management with responsibilities for the remote phosphor product line.  Prior to Intematix, Jason was at Bridgelux where he served as VP of Channel Marketing.  He joined Bridgelux in 2008.  Jason began his career in the product development group of Hewlett Packard, focused on the development of the first high power LED, later branded as Luxeon. With the transition to Philips Lumileds, Mr. Posselt held multiple commercial roles with increasing responsibility including market development, product marketing and automotive business segment management, growing the company’s high power LED division to a several hundred million dollar business.
