Jim Feldhan to Speak at SEMICON West 2005 on Automotive MEMS

Automotive Electronics Will be the Focus of President’s Presentation

Phoenix, Arizona July 12, 2005 - Semico Research announced today that Jim Feldhan, President, will participate at SEMICON West 2005 delivering micro-electromechanical systems (MEMS) presentation on "Automotive Electronics," in the Emerging Technologies Hall. The tradeshow opened on July 12, 2005, at the Moscone Center in San Francisco, California, and features more than 1400 companies from 24 countries showcasing the latest innovations in semiconductor, flat panel display (FPD), MEMS and Nanotechnology.

Silicon based MEMS/Microsystems is a rapidly growing industry that utilizes semiconductor process technology, equipment and materials. These applications represent an opportunity for diversification for equipment and material suppliers. MEMS devices are becoming more complex, requiring more sophisticated manufacturing and packaging processes that will drive advances in equipment and materials technology. “Because it is viewed as more stable than other semiconductor markets, the automotive market is often seen as a desirable segment,” said Mr. Feldhan. “Just as the young consumer has dictated design features in such products as cell phones and MP3 players, they are also driving the new push for in-cabin digital automotive features,” he added.

Mr. Feldhan is scheduled to speak on Wednesday, July 13, at 11:50am on the Emerging Technologies Stage in the Esplanade Hall. He will join the following MEMS speakers scheduled to participate; Henning Wicht, President, WTC Consulting; Don Russell, Manager of Product Integration and DLP Products, Texas Instruments; Philip Miller, Marketing Director, Faraday; David Grant, President, Tamar; Steve Lassig, Sr. Manager of MEMS Products, Lam Research and Dr. Bernard S. Meyerson, IBM Fellow, VP and Chief Technologist of IBM Systems and Technology Group, IBM.
